We have all experienced being less patient when we don’t get enough sleep. We have heard how it affects our psychological and physical health, even our overall mortality.

What researchers at Berkeley University have recently published is how much it could affect our willingness to be helpful and charitable. Social cooperation and altruism are essential elements of society and family wellbeing. In fact, in RO-DBT we speak of friendship and cooperation as necessary for survival.

However we can increase our willingness to utilize the prosocial brain networks by getting adequate sleep and learning how to increase our own sense of connectedness to others.
